There are two types of output monitors which are Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

The previous monitor is the CRT which is large, bulky and with a glass screen, this makes them robust and hard to damage. They produce a lot of heat when there are a lot of them in a room and it is very noisy.

Nowadays we use LCD screen which are slim, creates less heat, less noise and they are commonly used with desktops, handheld systems and laptops. On the other hand, there are some disadvantages such as, easily damaged, leaves a permanent mark and when looking at it from a certain angle it is hard to see the screen.
